Nabil MUSTAFA (ESIEE Paris) – “Sampling in Geometric Configurations”

Abstract:

In this talk I will present recent progress on the problem of sampling in geometric configurations. A typical problem: given a set P of n points in d-dimensions, and a parameter eps>0, is it possible to pick a set Q of O(1/eps) points of P such that any half-space containing at least eps*n points of P must contain some point of Q.
