Fernando STIPANICIC “International Effects of US Medical Device Regulation”
Abstract :
Preliminary work. We study the international effects of U.S. regulation in medical devices. We exploit changes in classification of devices across risk categories by the US FDA to study changes in quantity, quality and direction of innovation across the world, international trade and, registration of foreign producers in the US. We investigate different mechanisms that could lead to those effects.
