I am currently an Associate Professor at the University of Sassari, Italy and an Enseignant-Chercheur en économie at the Ecole National de la Statistique et de l'Analyse de l'Information (ENSAI) in Rennes (on leave), France and part of the Centre de Recherche en Economie et Statistique (CREST). I am also affiliated with the institute for the study of labor IZA, Bonn, and the institute for the world economy IfW, Kiel, both in Germany.

My research interests are in the area of labor economics, macroeconomics and the economics of migration. Broadly speaking, there are three lines of research that I am pursuing. The first aims at investigating the effects of the international flows of labor and the institutional features that regulates them, on the human capital distributions of the affected areas and countries. The second line of research is on the accumulation process of human capital through education and training and focuses particularly on the Canadian labor market. Finally, I am interested on how the institutional features of public employment, namely the fact that wages are less reactive to productivity changes than in the private sector, affects private employment and unemployment. I am happily married with five children.
