Aim: To provide PhD students foundational digital practices for research. There is no prerequisite. Primarily designed for statistic/economic/social sciences.

13:30 [CLI – optional] “Don’t be afraid of the command line”: a beginner introduction to CLI & Unix systems – Émilien Schultz
This session will be a quick introduction on how to use a terminal and to be autonomous with command lines. It is an important step to be fluent with scientific programing or access remote HPC servers.
14:30 [Latex] “Separate the content from form”: introduction and discussion on best Latex practices for research to format scientific articles – Nicolas Chopin
Latex is essential to the scientific publishing process. After a global introduction to the philosophy behind Latex, this session will give an overview of the tools and good practices needed during the PhD.
