SUMMARY:CEMRACS 2026 - Modeling and AI for environmental transition
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the multidisciplinary summer school and research program\n“CEMRACS 2026 – Modeling and AI for Environmental Transition”\,\nto be held at the Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM) in Marseille. \nCEMRACS 2026 is aimed at PhD students\, advanced master’s students\, and junior researchers\, and will focus on mathematical and statistical modeling and artificial intelligence applied to key challenges in:\nenvironmental and energy economics\, actuarial science\, sustainable finance\, ecology\, and climatology. \nThe event consists of: \n\na one-week summer school(July 13–17\, 2026)\, followed by\na five-week research session(July 20 – August 21\, 2026)\,\n\nduring which participants will work in small groups on research projects supervised by senior researchers.\nParticipants may attend only the summer school\, or both the summer school and the research session (the latter subject to selection). \nSummer school courses\n\nMathematical modeling for biodiversity— M. Barbier\nMathematical modeling for climate: stochastic dynamics\, extreme events\, large deviations— F. Bouchet\nClimate risks\, insurance\, insurability\, and rare events— O. Lopez\nMachine learning for climate change— C. Monteleoni\nComputational and AI methods in climate economics— S. Scheidegger\n\nSpecial invited lectures\n\nMathematical models for carbon emission markets— R. Aïd\nMathematical bioeconomics for sustainable fisheries— L. Doyen\nMean-field game models for energy transition— R. Dumitrescu\nModeling of the water cycle at the interface between climate\, hydrology\, and socio-economy— J. Polcher\n\nFor further details on the program\, the list of research projects\, and registration instructions\, please visit the event website:  https://cemracs2026.math.cnrs.fr/ \nDeadlines \n\nApplication to the research session: March 31\, 2026\nSummer school registration: March 31\, 2026 (early bird) or May 31\, 2026\n\n
