Rune Majlund VEJLIN (Aarhus University) – ” Equilibrium Labor Allocation and Income Taxation ”
Abstract: We estimate an equilibrium on-the-job random search model with two-sided heterogeneity and endogenous search intensity on both sides of the market. Wages are determined by wage posting and labor income is taxed. The model is used to analyze the role of labor income taxation on labor reallocation. We use Danish 1999-2003 Matched Employer-Employee data and detailed information on individual tax rates to evaluate a sequence of income tax reforms in Denmark during 1990s and 2000s in terms of the allocation of workers of different ability levels across firms with different productivity. We also evaluate different counter-factual tax reforms.
